Ride for the Rivers at Riverfest June 20

06/20/2021 10:00 am

Celebrate our Wild and Scenic Rivers on a 30 mile (~3 hours with a stop for ice cream) bike ride with OARS.

The ride will include multiple river crossings of the Assabet, Concord and Sudbury rivers, with occasional stops for re-grouping and brief descriptions of the rivers we're celebrating. We will pass through parts of three different watersheds, all crucial to our local fresh water supply, river recreation, farms, and orchards.

Start time: 10 am (a forecast of steady rain will cancel this event)

Meeting location: Monument Street parking lot across the road from the Old Manse / North Bridge. Route information.

Registration here appreciated but not required.

Ride policy: moderate pace 12-14mph, human arrows and re-grouping where necessary. No one gets left or lost.
Helmets required. Bring a water bottle or two, and some food is a good idea. We will make one or more stops at locations with restrooms or Porta-Potties.
About 2 miles of the tour makes use of the ARRT rail-trail section to Maynard. This includes some unpaved but hard-packed roadway that's easily traversed with skinny-tired road bikes.

Contact: Mike Duclos if any questions.
